Text entry fields as attributes

I am needing a way to add in a text extra field as a product attribute. We are allowing customers to add phrases to products along with the other normal attributes (colour, size...). This custom variable needs to get passed into order for processing.

Help please!!!

    Todays release of Jigoshop 1.2 provides this with personalized products.

    It's not an attribute, it is an extra field attached to a product, variable or otherwise. But it does carry through to the Cart, Checkout, and Orders.

    That's the problem. I need it as an actual attribute that customers can fill in as the products are customized with their phrase. No sense in having it if it doesn't get passed through in the order.

    Ok, well assuming you have upgraded to Jigoshop 1.2, ... on any Edit Product screen, on the 'Advanced Tab', there will be a select control for 'Can be personalized'. Enable it and update the product.

    Then on the single product page on the front end for that product, there will now be a 'Personalize' tab that the user can enter their personalizations with a button to click to attach it to the product.

    This will now carry through to the Cart and onwards when 'Add to Cart' is clicked.

    Thanks a lot for the help with this. It's greatly appreciated. It would be a lot easier to treat it inline with the other attributes but it's better than nothing.

    Hi Jeff. When you say "button to click to attach it", do you mean they can attach a file along with a product order? I'm wanting to use jigoshop for a photo to canvas site and attaching file to a product's order has been a major hurdle for me.

    No, sorry, nothing like that.

    We've had a number of people asking about this; I'll see if we can't get it looked into at least for the next release. No promises of course ... :)

    You can't add two of the same products when each has a different personalization. Wasn't this add-on tested before being rolled out? Any tester worth their salt would have weeded this one out??

    Well, apparently not.

    Sorry to have disappointed you so badly!

    I'll spare you the long technical discussion as to why, and just note ... if it's the same product and you want two personalizations ... place two orders. ;)

    Hi Jeff

    The above is something I didn't know and really helped me, however I have paid for and downloaded the Product Add-Ons extension, however the file isn't working and I am unable to provide the detailed level of customisation I and my colleagues need. Please can you let me know how to get the full and proper product?

    Hi Jeff

    I have been emailing someone at JogoShop who has sent me the complete file. I'm not really sure what went wrong but it has been solved extremely quickly. A big thanks to Andy and everyone who has offered help.

    I believe the issue was that the link I receive after purchase was incorrect and downloading a file called 'download'. However like I explained above, the issue is sorted and my site is running as expected.

    Thanks again to all. Great service and would recommend to anyone.
