It’s been another busy month for the world of Jigoshop and WordPress eCommerce as when we’re busy working on the back-end of the code or making improvements to our support packages, there are a huge number of developers and designers releasing their own products as well. So here’s a rundown of everything that’s happened in the last month:

Jigoshop developments and extensions:

Mailchimp Extension for Jigoshop: Email is an incredibly important way to build your online business, which is why we’ve released a Mailchimp plug-in to import your customers into your mailing list. It follows on from the Campaign Monitor extension released in September.

JPlayer Music Sampler extension for MP3 Downloads: Selling downloads, such as MP3 files, rather than physical products? It’s now just got easier with the great JPlayer Music Sampler, which makes uploading quick and simple.

Improvements to Jigoshop Support: One of our biggest priorities and passions is supporting the Jigoshop community, and to constantly evolve and improve how we can help you – which is why we’ve recently unveiled our new support section for you to connect and share tips, advice and feature requests.

Great new Jigoshop themes:

Sommerce – an extremely customisable and configurable theme produced by the talented Sara Presenti, and allowing you to really make your store stand out with some simple options and choices. We really like it, and we’re sure you will too.

Animal House – a nice image-led eCommerce theme targetting animal adoption services, pet stores and really doing a great job on providing exactly what you’d want when you’re animal-focused in your business.

Inspirational Jigoshop Showcase sites:

Wondering how flexible Jigoshop is? Want to enjoy some inspirational design or perhaps find someone to work with for your business? Then check out:

We’re hiring – be part of the Jigoshop team:

We’re always interested in hearing from experienced and talented web developers, and we’ve got some vacancies at the moment – both to work on the core code base of Jigoshop, and for a range of clients on behalf of parent company Jigowatt. The specific details are here, and if the formal roles aren’t quite right for you, don’t forget that we’d love you to contribute to Jigoshop as an open source project which can help you raise your profile and build connections in the WordPress community – and if you build a theme or extension, we can help you monetise it.

MailChimp email plugin for Jigoshop

Posted in Extensions and tagged , , , , on by .

It’s important that when you use Jigoshop, you know you can work with the widest selection of service providers to allow the best choice. And with that in mind, we now have a plugin to integrate with MailChimp email services, to join our existing Campaign Monitor plugin and allow you to use the email provider that you want.

As with the Campaign Monitor plugin, the MailChimp integration is very quick and simple. Enter your details and any purchaser will be automatically added to your email list, allowing you to market related products and services to someone you know is happy to spend money with you.

In direct marketing terms, this is allowable as a ‘soft opt-in’ as long as you keep your emails to those signups relevant in terms of services and products. And we’d also recommend that you notify users at the start or during the purchase process so they’re not surprised when your email lands in their inbox.

Email is still an incredibly effective and useful tool for eCommerce, and if you haven’t made the best use of it yet, take a look at MailChimp or CampaignMonitor and give it a try – it’s incredibly cost efficient to use with our plugins, and can give your sales a massive, massive boost. In fact, MailChimp even allows up to 2000 subscribers and 12000 emails per month for free, with no credit card required, and no trial expiration, so once you’ve got the MailChimp Plugin, it’ll be free to build up your email marketing until it’s already paying for itself!
