When we first saw Look Darling, we have to admit everyone in the office was really impressed. If your business sells something as stylish as vintage wedding and evening dresses, then you need your website to measure up – and we’re also proud that Jigoshop is being used to power something as important to people as buying a dress for one of the most important days of their lives!

The homepage really combines a clean and simple navigation and product display with enough character from the period to reinforce that the people behind the company know their stuff. In fact the business started when founder Emma was looking for her own dress, and the two years of hard work before launching seems to have paid off:

Obviously buying a vintage dress or shoes is going to be an investment, so the team behind the website (Emma, husband Nick and designer Raphael) have put time and effort into ensuring that the individual product pages utilise several images of each product, a unique description (which is important for search engines), and make good use of related products.

Why did Look Darling pick Jigoshop?

We exchanged emails with Nick from Look Darling and found that he’d already used some of alternative CMS and eCommerce platforms before Jigoshop, but found that the interfaces weren’t intuitive, the time to market was slow, and some options meant that the site would look like a turnkey solution – which obviously wouldn’t suit gorgeous dresses and shoes.

In addition to Jigoshop offering all the required functionality and the speed – “We could have been up and running the same day if I wasn’t so picky getting the design spot on”, Nick also loves the fact that “It just seemed to work. No wasting my life tweaking or messing about to do basic things”. That’s great for us to hear, and also great for Nick who also works as Technical Director at a digital company, so needs something that does the job quickly and effectively.

We’ll leave the last words to Nick.

“The support is excellent and the growing community seems like it’s a winner, plus I really don’t mind paying sensible money for the quality of the additional components you offer”
