Headway Connect integrates Jigoshop with Headway Themes

Jigoshop can now be used with all Headway Themes to provide eCommerce with their great drag-and-drop WordPress framework which allows you to create your own layout via their visual editor. And it’s possible via the new Headway Connect extension, which is now available for free.

Headway Connect Extension for Jigoshop

The Headway Connect Extension for Jigoshop

It’s been developed in collaboration with Grant and Clay Griffiths, the father-and son team behind Headway. The first version of Headway launched in 2009, developed by Clay at just 15-years-old, and has proven incredibly popular as it allows anyone to drag and dropĀ  Blocks onto the editor to design and edit any page of your website. They’re now onto Headway 3, and in addition to the visual design options, you can also access a live CSS Editor, and they’ve partnered with a number of major theme developers to produce child themes which you can then ‘edit like crazy’.

HeadwayVisualEditor

The Headway Themes Visual Editor

Once you’ve settled on a layout, you can then change the design settings in the same Visual Editor., which lets you select fonts, colours, rounded corners, background images and more to let you style your site or page exactly how you want. As with all official Jigoshop themes, Headway has introduced a Responsive Grid to let your site automatically re-size whether your customers are visiting on their computer, smartphone or tablet. And again, like Jigoshop, it’s available to use for your own sites, or for client sites.

Installation is simple – you’ll need Jigoshop 1.1.1 or greater plus Headway 3.1.1 or greater, and then to install and activate the Headway Connect extension. And this then gives you a Jigoshop Block to use in any Headway theme.

Jigoshop and popular theme frameworks:

We want to continue to offer Jigoshop compatibility with the best WordPress theme frameworks, having previously announced official integration with PageLines, and producing our own integration with Genesis. Wherever possible we prefer to work directly with theme providers to ensure seamless integration, so if your favourite theme designer hasn’t been covered yet, why not ask them to get in touch with us?

Dan, Clay and I just want to thank you and your Team for all of the hard work on getting this accomplished. We look forward to watching what our two communities do combining both our products.

    • Dan Thornton

Cheers Grant, and it’s been great working with you guys, although it’s Andy and Sandra’s team, and Rob who did all the hard work. I’m just the one who shouts about it all because the rest of the team are too modest.

“…to offer Jigoshop compatibility with the best WordPress theme frameworks…”

I don’t know for others, but you are so right for Headway Theme framework – although I don’t use it currently intensively, it is very simple theme framework and in the same time very powerful with tons of educational materials (textual, video) prepared by Headway Team, not only Theme usage related but also instructions how to use WordPress itself (for beginners as well as advanced users).
Jigoshop & Headway = 10 stars total score from me (5 per each one :-) )

Help – I have installed Jigoshop with my Headway theme (+ the Jigoshop extension), but I cannot get it to work. I can create a product, but it doesn’t display any values (only description) – Can you direct me to a page with detailed instructions/tutorial?

    • Dan Thornton

      Hi,
We’re working on a detailed guide, but it should work with the details contained in the ReadMe file supplied with the Jigoshop extension? If you’re having difficulty, it’s worth posting a message on our free forum where community responses can be a little more detailed.

      • Marius

Thanks – will work through the readme file …

  • Alison

the readme file doesn’t say much. Any idea why my default headway styles aren’t being applied to my product page?

    • Dan Thornton

      Hi Alison,
Sorry to hear you’re having problems – if you’ve followed the instructions in the readme file, the best place to post for a more detailed response is on the Jigoshop forum, with your site details so we can take a look.

    Dan,

    Quick help.

Jigoshop + Headway worked fine (on a WAMP installation), but I suddenly have a problem with the cart – must I clone my product page for the cart or create a new page for cart.

    Regards,

    Marius

    • marius-africa

Sorted – It was a jigoshop version issue – shortcodes.

  • D

Sorry, but I’m not getting these instructions despite using headway on dozens of sites.

This is what is in the read me doc:
“Enter into the Headway editor & swap the content blocks in templates archives -> product & single -> product for jigoshop blocks
    4.”

    1. I’m in the visual editor.
    2. In grid mode I’ve gone to page > single > product and cloned one of my templates. There is no templates archives > product & single > product yet.
    3. Went to the main content block to change the type of block it is and chose jigoshop (other blocks)

OK, all seems well so far, but when I go to view my products page the content is blank.

I’m sure I missed a step. Can anyone give me a suggestion?

    • ComputerKing

Same as above my content area is blank, no idea what the readme is on about, unlike the above poster i am a headway newbie, maybe it’s cause i drink Coffee not Tea. readme seems a little vague, a step by step maybe?

      • Dan Thornton

        Hi,
We’re just looking at the readme, and whether we can create a step-by-step guide or video to help with setup.
        Dan

        • Computer King

Thanks for the reply, as i know nobody likes a nub haha, but a video or a bit more detail ed instruction would be really great. I have managed to get things mostly working now but, am still confused seems the Jigoshop block, is still blank guessing that has to do with me not understanding the template stuff in the readme.txt. However adding the shop button to my menu list some products when i click on it.

Question i was using woocommerce on this site before, sorry, and all of my products are in the product pages, but do not show when i click the shop button. No biggy as i can delete an recreate (less than 10 products) but if there is intructions somewhere about migrating products from woo could you let me know.

PS Thank you very much for this connector and from the post i have read around the forums you folk have done alot of work to make things happen with headway THANKS

          • Dan Thornton

            Hi,
Believe me, we’re all n00bs in something, and when it comes to a product like Jigoshop, there’s new stuff to learn all the time! And we’re very aware that there are always improvements that can be made to help more people get a better understanding of Jigoshop at the start…

When transferring from Woo to Jigoshop, we have a converter available: https://jigoshop.com/product/woocommerce-to-jigoshop-converter/ but if it’s less than 10 products, it’s probably more cost effective to start from scratch.

And no problem for the connector – we (and the great guys at Headway) have put a bit of work into it, but we think it’s more than worthwhile to support a great framework like Headway, and to enable more people to be able to use Jigoshop more easily!

Hi, I want to integrate a shop into a running Headwaythemes 2.0 installation. Does Jigoshop integrate with Headwaythemes 2.0 – or does it require a Headwaythemes version 3.0 or higher?
    Thanks,
    Stefan

    • Dan Thornton

      Hi Stefan,
It requires Headway 3.1.1 or higher I’m afraid.
      Dan

  • Jigoshop

@stefan It doesn’t work with 2.0 but it will work with 3.1.1

  • ComputerKing

Think i need some really basic help here as i have products appearing in my content block with out the add to cart or pricing info, also on the bottom of my page below the footer i have products appearing correctly with add to cart buttons, and pricing info, how do i get the jigoshop block to appear in the content area when i click on the shop button in my nav menu

I have posted here on jigoshop requesting help
    http://forum.jigoshop.com/discussions/problems/7856-jigoshop-headway-connector-readmetxt-unclear

I have posted here on headway requesting help
    http://support.headwaythemes.com/discussion/18541/compatible-ecommerce-plugin#latest

Basically both have deadened in contact the other guys

    • Dan Thornton

      Hi,
It’s always slightly more complicated when an application bridges two different companies, as it means it’s something where either business controls all the possible variables, but as was mentioned on our forum, Premium Support means that we can offer a more detailed response as subscriptions allow us to fund developer time for support.
I’ll see if we can get in touch and investigate a bit further shortly – we’ll need some more details before we can suggest a fix or work with the Headway guys to see what could be causing the issue.

I do did not think it would be such a big deal to ask for some help with the documentation. I do not want to step on toes or offend anyone, but seriously has anyone there at jigoshop even setup this plugin? Or read the readme.txt I know i am new to headway and jigoshop, but i have used my fair share of readme.txt files over the past couple of decades.

Seems the plugin is mostly working just not displaying in the content area!!! so close lets stop dodging around, and make this work!!! I realize that it is 2 companies trying to work together, mostly from the runaround :) but maybe we should start with proper install documentation? I can write a clear easy to setup and understand step by step INSTALL.txt for people like me that are new to headway, if you help me understand how to follow step 3 in the current readme.txt.

Again seems a shame that you have the package almost working, but im sure the readme.txt throws most potential users off.

PS Headway team is working on a woocommerce plugin obviously this is going to take more potential uses away from jigoshop, and if it comes out before we get this working on my sites you know i will be using woo commerce instead. However i do prefer the original jigoshop and plan to buy some extensions, and possibly a subscription, however nobody gets my money until they provide a clear, understandable, and working solution.

Thank you for your efforts this far I am not getting paid for this time, and realize you are probably not either.

        • Dan Thornton

          Hi Computer King,

It’s not the work involved that’s the problem, just the time to schedule it, as obviously prior to this we had a full list of things to finish/release etc, and although it’s frustrating, it is less than a week since the initial request came to my attention, so it takes a bit of time to sit down and go through the integration process to come up with a step-by-step guide!

I’m going to be getting the two plugins working together this week and writing up the process myself to ensure that you get a clear and working guide asap!
          Dan

          • ComputerKing

Really? empty promises, not even a reply? still waiting i realize its the holidays and all but it has been a month whats going on even an update would be nice.

  • ivica

@ComputerKing I have information that headway connect is fixed 2 weeks ago, did you check latest version?

  • ComputerKing

The Jigoshop plugin is working, somewhat however my site is the same, after the update to version 1.1, and the readme.txt is the same, i do not understand step 3. it is unclear!!

Please take alook at my site as i cannot seem to make products appear on my page correctly, they do appear below where i have added a jigoshop block, but i cannot get them to appear in my main content area.

    http://computerking.ca

I get lost withing step 3.

“3. Enter into the Headway editor”

Editor that must be the Design mode not Grid mode right?

So to be clear you might want to explain in your readme.txt

Enter into Headway >> Visual Editor

“& swap the content blocks in templates archives -> product & single -> product for jigoshop blocks”

This part of step 3. i do not under stand at all i have no, templates archives, and no products & single, honestly really frustrated here WTF?? are you trying to say!

I have tried the below and it does not work for me. You really need to clear your readme.txt up maybe it is written for a really old version of Headway, as i am a bit of a Headway newbie, and super confused with your instructions.

Once inside the headway visual editor, on the left select Archive >> Post type >> Product >> click edit, to pop up the grid wizard, clone the Home Page, as Single ^^ Page is greyed out, is that because i am using a child theme or is it your plugin being difficult?

PS I am a Coffee drinker not tea must be part or why i am so frustrated with the readme.txt Coffee really make me impatient :) with confusing readme instructions.

  • Computer King

I am starting to think this project is vaporware or some kind joke, has anyone gotten this connector working?
